About the event
Is it anxiety? Is it just a phase? Is it a symptom of the learning disorder? What can I do to help? Parents of children diagnosed with specific learning disorders, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and others, find themselves often dealing with hours of frustrations and meltdowns related to school. Everyday functioning may look out of control, with parents not knowing if it is the learning disability that is getting in the way, or if it is anxiety symptoms making the learning disorder worse. This presentation will provide information from theory and practice to address the interaction between anxiety and learning disorders. Parents will learn about how to recognize the symptoms of anxiety associated with learning disorders and how to support their children in an empowering way.
